FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Greens is located at the end of Building A inside of Fort Mason Center. It is the first building on the left when you enter the parking lot.

You may park anywhere within the Fort Mason Center parking lot and pay for parking. Please check the Fort Mason Center calendar, as some events will impact parking.

  • Most of our menu is able to be made vegan and/or gluten free. We have a helpful key on our menus for your convenience!

    V = vegan, VP = vegan possible

GF = gluten free, GFP = gluten free possible

Our vegetarian options may include eggs, dairy, and honey. Vegan options omit all animal products.

  • For dietary restrictions beyond vegan and gluten free diets, please email us at info@greensrestaurant.com. Chef Katie will get back to you about your possible menu options.

While we are adept at handling allergies, it is always best to give us advanced notice so the kitchen can prepare.

  • Our window tables are non-reservable due to the volume of requests we receive for them. Instead, we seat them first-come, first-serve based on arrival time, NOT on how long ago you made your reservation.

Your best bet is to arrive either right at opening or towards the end of service hours. Otherwise, you’ll just have to get lucky!

However, no matter where you’re seated in the dining room, there is a beautiful view for everyone thanks to our floor to ceiling windows all along the western-facing wall.

  • When you book a table at Greens, you may have the option to choose between the Bay Room, Main Dining Room, and Outdoor Pavilion, depending on availability. These spaces can also be rented for private events.

The Main Dining Room is the large room that you see when you walk through the front doors. It is, of course, our main space with great views of the Bay. It can get a little noisy during our busier days! The main dining room can comfortably seat up to 130 guests.

The Bay Room, also known as our private dining room, is a smaller space that is located just past the hallway to the bathrooms. It still has wonderful views and is a slightly more intimate space. It tends to be a little quieter than the main dining room and can seat up to 50 guests.

The Outdoor Dining Pavilion is our newest seating addition. It is the large wooden structure located just outside the front doors of Greens. The space is covered and mostly rain proof. There are overhead heaters, tower heaters, and curtains located in the space to help you stay warm. The outdoor space does NOT have views, but we do allow well behaved four-legged friends in this space. The outdoor pavilion can comfortably seat 70 guests.

  • At Greens, we prioritize farming practices first and foremost when planning our menus. Most everything comes from local farms, and we buy organic wherever possible. Because some of our farmers are small, not everyone is able to be certified organic, but are practicing organic or better, such as biodynamic or regenerative.

This philosophy also extends to our beverage menus, including wine list, spirits & cocktails, and non-alcoholic options.

  • Greens was founded by the San Francisco Zen Center in 1979 as part of a zen-work program. While the restaurant has evolved over the years, it maintains a close relationship with the Zen Center and its Buddhist teachings.

  • Well-behaved dogs are allowed in our outdoor dining pavilion. Dogs must remain on-leash and underneath the table at all times. Excessive barking and misbehavior are not allowed for the safety and comfort of our other guests.

  • Greens has a 15 minute grace period for all reservations. After that, you will forfeit your table. Please make sure you check for traffic and the Fort Mason Center events calendar for events that may impact parking.

If you’d like to let us know you’re running late, note that we do not monitor our phones during service hours, but you can send us a text through OpenTable.

  • We have signed copies of Everyday Greens available for sale at Greens. Just ask your server for a copy!
